AI: The Ultimate Change Agent in Today’s ‘Everything Everywhere’ World

Today's One Thing I'm thinking about is the future of how we get things done is top of mind for me. Recently, I watched the AI in Work keynote speech by Ryan Roslansky, CEO of LinkedIn, that shed light on the transformative role AI plays in shaping work and society. He spoke about how workplace and societal changes are constant, but with the emergence of AI, it feels like everything is happening all at once. I think this analogy perfectly captures the current technology environment the world is experiencing.

AI & Everything Everywhere

Today's One Thing I'm thinking about is the future of how we get things done is top of mind for me. Recently, I watched the AI in Work keynote speech by Ryan Roslansky, CEO of LinkedIn, that shed light on the transformative role AI plays in shaping work and society.

AI, an acronym for artificial intelligence, is an umbrella term for various technologies. These technologies individually and collectively solve but also create many challenges for businesses and society—producing a technology tornado akin to the disorienting, fast-paced world depicted in the movie ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once.’

Possibly the greatest of these challenges is change management. Humans simultaneously resist and thrive on change, a contradiction that produces elasticity and tension within our society.
We have this resilient ability to stretch to accommodate change, returning to form over time as if the change never happened.
As a technologist, I've seen numerous changes in technology usage—from the rise of personal computers and the internet to cloud computing and mobile. While AI has already had a transformative but often invisible impact, its influence and visibility are growing exponentially with the advent of general omni-use Transformer architectures like GPT (General Pretrained Transformer). Recently, tools that use this architecture like ChatGPT and others, have emerged, further powering the convergence of past technologies, modern computing power, and big data. Omni-use AI has a much broader value compared to AI designed for narrow use cases—much like how smartphones, with their seemingly infinite applications, are more versatile than phones that only make and receive calls.
Together, AI and its accompanying technologies will power the next generation of humanity and society in ways we’re only beginning to imagine. I, for one, can’t wait to see where we’re heading.
In our quest for continual growth, we must continually ask ourselves: how can we leverage AI not just as a tool but as a catalyst for personal and professional growth, making each day "one to better"?
Until next time, remember to make today better than yesterday.✌️
