Living In a Temporary World

Today’s One Thing is a quote that’s on my mind: “In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.” —Eric Hoffer, Philosopher, from his book The True Believer.

Today’s One Thing is a quote that’s on my mind: “In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.” —Eric Hoffer, Philosopher, from his book The True Believer.
Eric Hoffer’s insight into adaptability reminds us that the key to thriving in a rapidly evolving world lies not in resting on what we think we know but in our willingness to continue learning. As the world transforms, those who adopt a learner’s mindset navigate with agility. Meanwhile, those clinging to outdated ideas and knowledge will struggle to find footing.
We live in a temporary world with change a constant. Each adjustment we make is a step toward a future version of ourselves. Yet, as soon as we think we’ve found our balance, the ground shifts again, challenging us to learn and adapt once again.
There’s a famous Buddhist quote, “Life is suffering.” I would add to that, saying, “Life is change and suffering, challenging and making us stronger.” Those who embrace this constant change have the best chance of surviving and thriving.
Embrace change, stay curious, and make every day one step better.
