Thoughts on mindfulness and regularly cleaning the lens we view life through.

I started a regular meditation practice some years ago, circa 2016-17. It helped me cope with anxiety initially, but I found other benefits over time. Sometimes, ideas or solutions to problems arise, similar to talking a walk outside, something I also do regularly.
There is a common misconception that meditation makes the mind go quiet, which in my experience, happens in small quantities over time, but our thoughts never stop. Meditation is like a life class in learning to direct and manage our thoughts and emotions.
I picture the traffic cop in the middle of a busy intersection masterfully directing the flow of cars.

I use the app Headspace (no affiliation or sponsorship) for my meditation, and each daily session begins with a short lesson based on the day's theme.
Today’s theme and lesson were on “Training the Mind.” The lesson covered the importance of meditation and mindfulness in helping us find awareness and perspective about the many things that can sometimes be overwhelming.
In this self-help world, we tend to compartmentalize sections of our lives and attempt to employ various strategies and techniques to fix or improve them.
Meditation doesn’t directly fix the problems or anxieties we have over the problems in our lives. Still, it does help indirectly by training our minds to be more aware of how our thoughts and emotions affect how we see everything in life. It indirectly helps us see life through a clearer lens. This approach will ultimately help us in every aspect of our lives.
Modern life can be overwhelming and requires significant effort to focus through the noise.
Training the mind to focus is more critical than ever.
