Fathom Analytics gives me clean, privacy-friendly data, but the default dashboards just were not working for me. They felt cluttered.

So I built my own small alternative.

What I wanted

A single-screen, widescreen analytics dashboard that shows live data across all my sites, no scrolling.

Just the basic: visitors, views, realtime activity, top sources, and site performance. Simple and clean.

The tools I used

I used OpenAI’s Codex Mac app alongside the Fathom Analytics API.

Codex handled the initial build and wiring (it’s a Node/Express setup) quickly. From there, it was a short back-and-forth to adjust layout, spacing, and flow until it felt right. Start to finish, the whole thing took less than an hour. I’ll probably still tweak it more (like reduce or build out the menu items) but it’s useable already.

Small build. Small improvement. Progress from accumulation.
