The AI Gold Rush

The AI gold rush is on, and generative AI is the latest shiny object. This new form of AI can create original content faster than ever, and artists and content creators can’t get enough, looking for the next great tool. The hype around generative AI in Silicon Valley is reminiscent of social apps and cryptocurrency, with a handful of startups raising hundreds of millions of dollars.
Although a few may be commanding the investment dollars, the list of generative AI startups is growing at an incredible rate.

Generative AI Startups

David Song, a senior at Stanford University, compiled and published an Airtable database with 150 startups. The database is searchable and categorized by company type. Click the link below.👇
Generative AI already feels like magic, creating new images, videos, music, and text, but the technology is still in its infancy. We've only begun to see what this technology can do. AI technology will become a natural collaborator, enabling humans to create faster and in ways, they may have never imagined.
Microsoft will soon arrive at the party with a new AI-driven design tool similar to Canva that generates images and designs.
The team within Microsoft Designer recently posted a few simple designs on Twitter for Halloween. Imagine you’re a social media content manager; what could you do with tools like these?
Another of my favorite collaborative examples is generative AI completing rough ideas or sketches based on a prompt entered with the sketch.
Diffuse The Rest, from Huggingface.co is an AI collaboration tool that uses generative AI to complete a drawing and give you alternate versions. It's one of the first applications of generative AI I've seen to focus more on the collaborative side of the technology.
For example, you could draw a simple sketch of a coffee cup and then have the AI complete the drawing, combine it with your prompt for direction, and receive multiple versions of coffee cups.

While the tool is basic so far, it has incredible possibilities. Creators could sketch product ideas in collaboration with AI to generate multiple versions with features and styles the designer may never have envisioned. Photographers could draw stick-people storyboard scenes, allowing the generative AI to transform them in minutes. The possibilities are endless.
Like the digital tools before it, generative AI will empower artists to push their vision further and faster than ever, collaborating with these new tools in ways we haven’t even imagined.
Thanks for stopping by today.
